A raw, psychedelic third record, and the sequel to 2009's "Radio Wars", the recording of "The Loudest Engine" saw Howling Bells, the Australian-formed, London-based four piece comprising singer/ guitarist Juanita Stein and her brother Joel (lead guitarist), drummer Glenn Moule, and bassist Brendan Picchio - forge a sonic union with Nevada's expansive surroundings and Las Vegas's street-soiled vibe.

Says Stein of the album, “There's a singular sound which is more folk and rock than our last two albums, but it's interpreted in a modern sense. It wasn't a conscious effort to make a '70s tinged record. It was a very natural progression.

"The album shows that we're 21st century kids making a modern psychedelic record. [It] is our grown up record. The first was about that great initial leap, the second was us exploring different waters. This one is us, all having met at one place, at one time. I think this record will change people's perspectives of the band."

UK TOUR + MILES KANE UK TOUR + NOEL GALLAGHER'S HIGH FLYING BIRDS SUPPORT
New Manchester based six piece FOLKS have released a free download of a track called ‘Avalanche’ and start their own headlining UK tour this week before they go on tour with Miles Kane in October and support Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds at the Roundhouse in London in October.  The band will also appear on Radio 2 this weekend (Saturday 10th September) when Noel takes over Dermot O’Leary’s show between 3pm – 6pm and will perform two songs.
Bringing together classic song writing with emotive vocals and irresistible melodies, Folks make music to be listened to and enjoyed over and over.  The band were formed when guitarist and writer Michael Beasley hooked up with vocalist Scott Anderson, and they relocated to the US to record what would end up being their debut album, to be released early 2012.    On their return the duo pulled together a full band (Thom Fripp – lead guitar, Harry Gumery – bass, Wil Akroyd - keyboards and Elliot Barlow –drums) which ensured this group could also let rip live.  They kept themselves busy in a rehearsal studio, out of the way, letting the tunes evolve into another side of Folks – one with absolute precision playing and amazing stage energy.

The Sunday Telegraph declared the album to be a work of “borderline genius”, Mojo claimed “IRM marks Charlotte Gainsbourg’s musical coming of age”, whilst the Daily Telegraph enthused “her best work and arguably Beck’s best in a decade, too”. The New York Times called ‘IRM’ “an engrossingly eclectic pop record and a kind of coming-out party: the first time that Ms Gainsbourg the chanteuse has displayed the charisma of Charlotte Gainsbourg the actress.” Vanity Fair deemed the album “an enigmatic, varied, and sonically complex tour de force."
‘Terrible Angels’ EP includes: ‘Terrible Angels,’ written and produced by Beck, ‘Memoir, written by Conor O’Brien (Villagers) and produced by O’Brien and Renaud Letang (Feist), live versions of ‘IRM’ and Dylan’s ‘Just Like A Woman,’ recorded on Gainsbourg’s summer 2010 European tour and videos for ‘Just Like A Woman’ (live) and ‘Terrible Angels.’
